Line & Copy Editing
Line editing consists of evaluating the manuscript at a sentence and/or paragraph level, with the primary aim being to improve the book's language and style. Some sentences may need re-writing to improve grammar or flow. I focus on doing this without compromising on your authorial voice. Copy editing focuses on the mechanics of your writing: the grammar, spelling, punctuation, adherence to style, and general clarity.
I currently do two read-throughs during this editing stage before the manuscript is returned to you and search for the types of issues that may fall under line editing and/or copy editing. All of my suggestions are delivered with total respect for your work, which means you will always have the opportunity to accept or decline the amendments as you so wish.

Proofreading
This is the final check before your book goes to publication! One last read-through to check for any lingering spelling mistakes, punctuation errors, or formatting issues that may have made it through to the finished product. At this stage, there are not usually any substantial changes made. Bookings for proofreading require a previous professional line and/or copy edit. If too many errors are evident or your manuscript could still benefit from copy or line editing, further charges may apply. If this were to occur, we’d discuss options before proceeding to reach a decision that both parties are comfortable with.
